Marc is a certified hatha yoga teacher with an extensive background in ashtanga yoga and modern dance. His ashtanga practice began in 2000 and continues to be a firm base from which he teaches, with recent influences from vinyasa flow styles. In 2007, he deepened his practice on a journey to India. At the Sivananda ashram in Trivandrum, he began to find the spirituality within yoga that he'd been seeking. Integral Yoga became a logical step as he immersed himself in teacher certification at Yogaville (Charlotsville, VA), developed by Swami Satchidinanda. Local teachers that have particularly influenced Marc are Sandra Koteen, Christopher Love, Kerri Kelly, Chad Herst and Devorah Katz.
His modern dance career paved the way for a deep mind-body awareness, primarily via dance-theater with Maura Donohue/In Mixed Company in NYC (1994-1996) and Joe Goode Performance Group in SF (1996-2004). He earned his BFA in drawing and painting (University of Cincinnati: College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning), while dancing his way through college (College Conservatory of Music, Contemporary Dance Theatre), and presented performance art works that led to local and state funding, as well as a residency at the Headlands Center for the Arts in 1996. This enabled him to integrate several artistic disciplines to find his creative voice. When injury guided Marc to cultivate a gentle relationship with his body, his practice moved toward relaxation and ease rather than force and ambition.Meditation, yoga practice, and a drug/alcohol-free, vegan lifestyle, along with a commitment to living on purpose, are key aspects of a compassionate focus on well-being for Marc. He also works as an events coordinator in the music industry, a free-lance artist for Stanlee Gatti Designs, and is the Artistic Associate with im'ij-re, a local dance company directed by Amy Seiwert. He received his sanskrit name, Mukunda, at Yogaville. It's among the 1008 names of Lord Vishnu and means "gives compassionate liberation".
May we all feel happy, joyous and free.
Sara Randazzo
Off the Mat leader/Healing Touch Practitioner
Sara is a mediator, facilitator and trainer specializing in working with at-potential populations and their service providers. While working on her M.A. in International Disaster Psychology, she provided trainings and workshops on the U.S. conceptualization of PTSD for doctors and rape camp survivors in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was with this strength and commitment to healing that Sara returned to the Bay Area to explore her purpose and how she could be most effective in her commitment to social activism. For eight years, yoga has played an integral element in the pain management and body/mind/spirit balance Sara strives to maintain in an active lifestyle. With a history or repeated injuries as a result of a physically demanding lifestyle, yoga offered a new path of holistic healing. As a Healing Touch Practitioner Apprentice, Sara utilizes energy therapy and dialogue to promote social change through connection and communication. She strives to maintain a self-sustainable practice, enabling people and communities to find the tools to heal themselves, working to uncover their true power and capacity. Yoga in Action gave Sara the opportunity to find some clarity amidst the chaos of her personal and professional life experiences and she is thrilled to be graced with the opportunity to share this gift with others.
